| 1. Check
the weather forecast and tide changes. |
| 2. Wear
a personal flotation device at all times. |
| 3. Bring
a hat, sunglasses - remember to use them. |

where you are going and have a plan. |
| 5. Tell
someone else where you are going and for how long. |
| 6. Carry
a dry bag with a change of clothing, matches, cell phone, food, etc. |

a pump, extra paddle, paddle float, and know how to do a wet exit. |

lots of water or other liquid to drink and a snack. |
| 9. If
the water gets rough, stay calm, group up, make a safe plan for shore. |
