For five stars we have to get up the next day and want to discuss the movie further.
While we make every effort not to give away the plot in
the following reviews, please note that the third-party reviews may.

Yes, No, Maybe: Yes!
Catherine Keener, Oliver Platt, Rebecca Hall, Amanda Peet, Sarah Steele
Director: Nicole Holofcener
That Catherine Keener - she is amazing: every movie she does is good and she's always good in it. In this one she has support by a strong cast, Platt, Hall, Peet, Steele and Ann Morgan Guilbert. I must admit her character hit close to home and perhaps Kate will resonate with many people in these dark times, when we're living quite well thank you very much and others are not. The movie stays true to it's story while making us laugh at ourselves and our predicaments. Read a Movie Review.
Yes, No, Maybe: Yes
Ryan Reynolds, Jose Luis García Perez and Robert Paterson. Director: Rodrigo Cortes
An entire movie with a guy trapped in a casket and buried - really? Really. It will have you on the edge of your seat for the whole
95 minutes. Keep reminding yourself it's a movie or else you'll start getting claustrophobic. Ryan Reynolds shows his true star power but holding us transfixed with just his presence. And at the end...well just remember to breathe. Read a movie review.
Exit Through The Gift Shop
Yes, No, Maybe: Yes!
Banksy, Shepherd Fairey, Thierry Guetta and various players. Director: Banksy
What is art?
Can street art be sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars and still be street art? Is visual art an investment or a pleasurable/thrilling/inspiring feast for the eyes? If a person directs the production of 'art' are they an 'artist'? There's lots more we'd like to say about ETTGS but we've been thinking about it for a week or two - now it's your turn.
Andy, we miss you.
(We recommend that you don't read a review of this documentary before watching it.)
Yes, No, Maybe: Yes!
Anton Newcombe, Joel Gion, Courtney Taylor-Taylor, Matt Hollywood
Director: Ondi Timoner
You may have heard of the Dandy Warhols but if you haven't heard of their friends/nemesi Brian Jonestown Massacre then you're in for a treat. While the Dandy's spun off into a music contract, slick videos, and sylists, the BJM's stayed true to their drink, drugs and the hippest, trippiest, coolest, most inspiring, psychedelic music to never hit the airwaves. As Exit Through The Gift Shop made one ponder about art, Dig! get you wondering what success is and how do you stay alive and pay the rent while comitting yourself to a passionate and wild project. If only Hunter S. Thompson was still around to discuss these important wordly matters with. Read a movie review.
The Secret in Their Eyes
Yes, No, Maybe: Yes!
Soledad Villamil, Ricardo Darín, Pablo Rago, Carla Quevedo.
Director:
Juan JosE Campanella
Academy Award Winner, Best Foreign Film 2010. Set in Argentina this film so good that you are going to freak out. I thought it had ended several times and was
ready to pack it in and say what a great film and it just kept on going on with it's powerful story. It's got it all: drama, suspense, art house, love story, mystery and creepy. Read a movie review.
The American
Yes, No, Maybe: No
George Clooney, Paolo Bonacelli, Violante Placido, Irina Björklund.
Director: Anton Corbijn
I'm usually a fan of Clooney and his choice of movies but this one just didn't measure up to his high standards. It's on it's way to cool town but never quite manages to gas up and reach city limits. It's stylish Clooney but the plot moves so slowly that I had to pinch myself to stay with it and for the first time I really didn't care what happened to the man, he didn't seem like someone I'd want to know or cared what happened to him. Salt
Yes, No, Maybe: Yes
Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor, August Diehl.
Director: Phillip Noyce
Not a huge fan of Jolie but she makes a good secret agent: ala Bond or Bourne. Salt works for the CIA, is she a double agent really working for the Russians; the movie will keep you guessing. What I would like to see are more women in the story either as friends or foes - it seemed to be Angie vs the world of men. Let's get a whole crew of kick ass women rockin' the world. As a fast paced entertainment, the movie was good and there's no question it's not the last we've seen of Salt. And here's something interesting: Tom Cruise was offered the role but chose Knight & Day instead. Read a movie review.
Wall Street Money Never Sleeps
Yes, No, Maybe: Yes
Shia LaBeouf, Michael Douglas, Carey Mulligan, Josh Brolin, Susan Saradon.
Director: Oliver Stone
Picking up where the original Wall Street left off, the new Oliver Stone Wall Street is star-studded with a nice cameo by the young guy from the first film. Stone follows the current economic farce pretty factually wtih a thinly veiled Goldman Sachs company in the villian role. Stone has Gekko out telling the truth, which may be the first time many have heard, and that's great. But it doesn't hold and soon we're back to movie land with a predictable outcome. It's too bad the story didn't keep up it's worthwhile message, but what can one expect - it's entertainment after all. It's our political representatives who should be rolling out the truth. The Girl Who Played With Fire & The Girl Who
Kicked The Hornet's Nest
Yes, No, Maybe: Yes and Yes
Noomi Rapace, Michael Nyqvist, Lena Endre, Peter Andersson
Director: Daniel Alfredson - both movies
The second and third of the Stieg Larsson thirllers - it's ironic that even though the story line is not as gruesome (for me anyway) so I should be happy, I thought the tension and suspense of the first movie was much higher and therefore better. These movies go hand in hand with The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest picking up exactly where The Girl Who Played With Fire left off. Some things that were very cool in the first movie, are a little less amazing, but still worthwhile to round out the trilogy and get answers to a lot of questions.
