2011 August 04, We kayak over to Meares Island at high tide and hike the Big Tree Loop Trail

We head out at high tide and kayak with our dog over to Meares Island.
Pull the kayaks up on shore and hike the Big Tree Loop Trail. Meet some nice visitors to Tofino along the way.
The trail is amazing to us each time we walk it, the trees are spectacular!
The last photo shows a cedar tree that has a strip removed.
This is done by First Nations people and does not harm the tree.
First Nations people use the cedar for traditional hats and art pieces.
