The Clayoquot Island Preserve opens it's grounds to the public each year. It's a weekend that is looked forward to by locals and many tourists visit Tofino that weekend in order to also visit the island. The days were a bit overcast which lent a peaceful quality to the air and when the sun came out the colours of the gardens were sparkling like jewels! The trademark rhododendrons were in full force and in full view in the open areas. In the forest we had to look up for the blossoms, the plants were the size of trees. I have never seen such large rhodos before - they are amazing!

Many thanks to the owner of Clayoquot Island Preserve for allowing us to visit and share the beauty of this wondrous environment. And I remain in awe of the people who tend the grounds, the plants, the vegetables and herbs and the trails of the island. Clayoquot Island Preserve is a place where one may wander and think about what is important in this world: Peace, nature and the gathering of diverse people to simply enjoy being alive.
