Tofino Car Emergency Kit
An Emergency Car Kit is not only a good preparation for a major emergency situation but also for minor car incidents where you may have to wait for help. We live in a cool and often wet climate. Be prepared for those conditions. Matches will help but what will you light from them - wet wood? Carry candles as well to light which will give you a sense of comfort while helping you start and maintain a fire.
Car Emergency Kit
- Water
- Food (canned, dehydrated, snacks)
- Sweater or jacket, extra clothing [Make it warm clothing and some rain gear.]
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Money (coins and bills)
- Flashlight (extra batteries)
- Blanket
- First Aid Kit (bandages, gauze, etc.)
- Pocket knife
- Matches (waterproof) [Candles]
- Flares
- Fire extinguisher
- Work gloves
- Jumper cables
- Pencil and paper
- Tools (screwdriver, pliers, wire, crowbar, rope, etc.)
- Emergency phone numbers, including your contact person
- Maps of your most often traveled routes
- Personal items that are unique to you such as:
eyeglasses, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, tissues, hand wipes, toilet tissue, etc. - Special needs – medication, diapers, infant formula, etc.
- Favourite book, crossword puzzles or games
Tip
We throw our car kit gear into a handy bag and keep in the back of the car. That way when we need something from our kit it will be all together and we'll know exactly where to find it.
Long trip? - decided to drink the water and eat the snacks out of your kit - remember to replace them so when you need them they'll be there.
