The Ucluelet Mini Aquarium is one of the coolest places to visit. It is a collection
of sea life that is captured by the aquarium's divers, placed into viewing tanks,
then released back into the ocean. How's that for a great idea. We get to view
sea life that we'd only see if we were divers and it's a beautiful sight. The
aquarium is also very much a hands-on kind of place. Where the tanks are open
you are allowed to gently touch the sea creatures.

Anemones
|
| Entering the Ucluelet Mini Aquarium
you see a table tank full of brightly coloured anemones. They were soft to the
touch and curled around your fingers when you touched them. Below one of the knowledgeable
and friendly aquarium staff, Pamela Fry, explains the world of anemones to a visitor
(my Dad). You'll notice lots of photos of the anemones because I loved them -
the colour and the textures were fascinating. |

 |

 |
| Some anemone have smooth tentacles
and others had a feathery texture to theirs. In the photo on the left the brown
creature sitting on the rock is the same as the one with the green tentacles in
front of it except that it has closed to eat something it's caught. The same in
the right photo. The open anemone with the feathery tentacles sits in front of
a closed one. You can also see a closed feathery one on the left of the left hand
photo. |
